Upon news of Citibank scaling back the rewards on the Citi Dividend cards, I started looking for a new credit card to use for my groceries and gasoline purchases. I finally settled on the Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards card. It’s not a cash back card, but I do get 5 Thank You Points (no, thank you) for each $1 spent on groceries, gas, and drug store purchases for the next year.

I also get 10,000 thank you points right off the bat after my first purchase with the card, which can be redeemd for a $100 gift card. I’m hoping those points don’t expire right away, as I’d like to keep saving the points until I have enough to redeedm for plane tickets. If I can’t save them, I’ll just use them to buy $100 worth of gas cards and merely save the money that I would have spent on gas.

I’m a rewards junky.

Okay, let’s get down to business. One of the main reasons for this site is to track my money goal. I plan to post updates on the first of each month. I know, I know, this isn’t the first of the month (get off my back!). This will serve as the starting point.
So, before Q-day, the day I quit my job, 2/2/2009, I hope to have $45,000 saved up.

As of today, 9/10/2006, I have $5,118 in my adventure fund, putting me 11.4% of the way toward my goal.
